Boxing legend “Sugar” Shane Mosley told Boxing Scene he was inspired by friend and colleague Bernard Hopkins recent fight against WBC light-heavyweight champion Jean Pascal because it showed that no matter the age you cannot count a fighter out.
Hopkins entered the ring 45-years of age, and his opponent Pascal was 28-years-old, and besides two flash knockdowns Hopkins overcame the early storm and out boxed the young champion.
Mosley wants to prove the doubters wrong when he takes on Filipino ring sensation Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao May 7, 2011 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Many boxing fans and scribes are counting the 39-year-old future hall of fame boxer out, because of two lackluster showings recently one against Floyd Mayweather Jr and one against Sergio Mora of “The Contender” reality show.
Pacquiao will be the toughest test for the boxing vet, but his inspiration and hunger will make him train the hardest he has ever trained and looking at the stylistic match-up this will be a more action filled fight since both Mosley and Manny Pacquiao are aggressive fighters.
If this is Mosley’s toughest test, the same can be said of Manny Pacquiao, Mosley has the power, speed, and mobility that Manny hasn’t seen in recent years, and a man like Mosley who has nothing to lose is more dangerous than a guy who is on top and focused on other endeavors.
