Undefeated Mexican American challenger Cain Velasquez becomes the very first Mexican heavyweight champion of the world when he destroyed the UFC champion Brock Lesnar in the first round of their main event match at UFC 121 in Anaheim, California on October 23.
Cain Velasquez stuffed the takedown early on the bigger Lesnar, the two traded blows which Velasquez got the better of and when Lesnar did take Velasquez down he couldn’t keep him down. Cain would prove too explosive for the bigger fighter and made Lesnar cower from the quick combos hurled his way causing Lesnar to retreat.
Lesnar was tired and stumbling all over the octagon and was bloodied after some heavy ground and pound from Cain the ref Herb Dean stopped the fight in the first round.
Cain made history in one of the biggest UFC events of the year, by pulling off the victory against the heavy favorite Brock Lesnar.
