Two of California’s best boxers square off in the ring on Sept. 18 Mexican Independence day weekend at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The two combatants are Sergio “Latin Snake” Mora and the pride of Pomona, Sugar Shane Mosley.
Sergio Mora was the original winner of the reality boxing series on NBC “The Contender” and former WBC 154 lbs champion. This bout is important for Mora because Mosley has never lost to a boxer of Mexican decent, and Mora wants to be the first fighter of Mexican decent to defeat Mosley.
Shane Mosley is a multi-weight champion at 135, 147, and 154 lbs, and wants to redeem himself from his lackluster loss against Floyd Mayweather Jr.. Shane Mosley wants to fight Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto or Antonio Margarito next but first he must defeat Mora and show he still has what it takes to compete at 39 years of age.
The undercard is filled with young Mexican rising stars, Vicious Victor Ortiz, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, and Daniel Ponce De Leon.
HBO Boxing pay per view line-up for Saturdays broadcast:
