UFC 118 is live on Aug. 28. 2010 from the TD Garden in Boston, Mass.. The Main Event is a championship rematch between current lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and B.J. Penn, who held the title before losing to Edgar in Abu Dhabi.
Penn wasn’t happy with his performance and said he didn’t have that fire to motivate him in the first fight with Edgar, and in this fight he has new motivation to prove that he wasn’t himself that night and the real B.J. Penn will show up in Boston. Edgar wants to show that he wasn’t a flash in the pan and wants to prove the world that he was the better man in Abu Dhabi and will be the better man at UFC 118.
The co-feature of UFC 118, James Toney vs. Randy Couture, seems to be getting more attention than the Main Event.
Toney vs. Couture is a style vs. style fight, it pits a boxer (Toney) vs. a wrestler/MMA fighter (Couture).
Common combat logic suggests that Randy Couture will win because he is fighting in his sport, while Toney has no experience in mixed martial arts — doesn’t have a ground game — and is way past his best years.
The only shot that James Toney has to win is a “punchers chance,” but that is unlikely to happen because James Toney isn’t known for one punch knockout power, and Couture is an expert at clinch work and taking his foe down.
