Boxing is an Art form where the extraordinary talent of boxers, who are called gifted are greatly admired by fans and boxing aficionados.
Boxing is one of the sports that entertain millions and because of this it generates big income.
Thousands of boxers are attempting to reach the level of success to be admired or appreciated by millions of people, but only a very select few are successful of reaching this pinnacle.
One of these few successful individuals is Antonio Margarito.
He can be ranked as one of the few as it is evidenced by the upcoming plan of a Manny Pacquiao vs Antonio Margarito showdown at Dallas Cowboys stadium in Texas.
Pacquiao is the best pound for pound boxer in the world–fighter of the decade and multiple title holder in 7-different weight classes. If the Margarito fight gets made, then, Manny Pacquiao will be fighting for his eighth world title in 8-different weight divisions.
Out comes Antonio Margarito, who was chosen out of the many contenders to fight Manny Pacquiao. Margarito is one of these gifted or talented fighters who are admired by millions.
This alone must offset the inclination that he must be denied his boxing license in California.
It can be added to this that he has shown some signs of rehabilitation by dropping his long time trainer Javier Capetillo, the man who put the plaster inserts in Margarito’s gloves before the Shane Mosley fight. The strong point is that there was no finding that Margarito directly participated or instructed his team to insert the plaster into his wraps, Margarito strongly denies having any knowledge of what his trainer was putting into his gloves.
It is also very important to consider that a taint of doubt must seriously be given weight when he stated that he did not know that his trainer put plaster in his wraps. Most of the judges accepted or even agreed that they can see his honesty and sincerity in Margarito’s statements.
This gives a cloud of doubt on the alleged wrongdoing.
It greatly mitigated the wrongful act–it is reiterated that this alone is enough to allow him to be given a probational license. Through this period of probation–he can prove whether or not he will be worthy of gaining back his California license.
The allegations of the panel is that as a boxer he must check what is going on within his team and he must be held responsible just like a CEO of a company. The CEO doctrine alleged by the panel is not applicable here the doubt should be resolved in favor of Margarito.
This point or allegation is not enough to deny a talented boxer the chance to prove himself and his group that he is worthy of getting back his California License.
In conclusion – this possible cloud of doubt must be given weight in at least granting Margarito a probationary license. The revocation of Margarito’s license will already be a good warning to boxers not to do or repeat such unfair acts.
Probationary license is now proper, fair and already timely. Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito’s fight is a good substitute for the Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather fight. It will generate a big income since boxing is not only for great entertainment but also for generating revenue.
Margarito has reached that ladder of success or rank of attracting fans and viewers. Let his talent be recognized and given worth as started by the Romans, where they give recognition to those with talents regardless of their status in society. When a person is talented they force themselves to give recognition respect and honor to this talent again.
Margarito has a talent worthy of recognition in addition to his good statements that were accepted by the California State Athletic Commission panel as sincere and honest will be more than enough to give him a probationary license.
This is reflection of repentance of any wrongdoing intentionally or even unintentionally .
A fair decision must be the middle ground – not a denial–not a grant, but just a probationary class of license which is a middle ground.
