The Apple Iphone 4 is the hottest phone currently out, but leading U.S. consumer advocate magazine, Consumer Reports, can’t give it their stamp of approval . They claim that despite all of the advanced technology in the new Iphone, there was one glaring problem with it – its unreliable call reception.
Many new Iphone 4 users, claim that holding the phone a certain way would cause interference and drastically reduce call quality. Faced with this criticism an email was circulated around the web, supposedly straight from Steve Jobs, that Iphone users were “holding the phone the wrong way”.
Only problem was that in Apple’s own advertising materials showed actors holding the phone the exact same way. Apple then responded that its was a software issue and they were working to provide an update for users.
After extensive testing, Consumer Reports’ engineers have confirmed there is a design flaw with the Iphone 4 which causes calls to be dropped when a user’s hand touched a certain point on the metallic Iphone casing. On Monday, the magazine published these results on their website along with their do not buy recommendation. Tech blogs across the web quickly picked up the story and as result Apple’s stock price dropped $7. Some dissatisfied users have even called for a recall of the new Iphone.
