Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao is an inspirational person, not just because he is a fellow Filipino but because he has great qualities that make him special.
He came from nothing and made something of himself. A rags to riches story that seems so unreal, something that you would only think was possible in movies or books. Who would have expected a poor Filipino kid with no formal education, spoke little English, and living on the dirty and impoverished streets of General Santos City, Philippines would become as famous and respected as he is today. It is a story that inspires many poor young Filipinos growing up in the baryo/barrios who rely mainly on hope and faith to keep them strong while they live in harsh third world conditions.
Through his Catholic faith which was instilled to him by his mother Dionisia, Manny Pacquiao was able to look always at the positive and never succumb to the weakness of being a negative human being. The devil makes you hate, and makes you jealous and bitter, Pacquiao had all the chances to become an angry and negative person due to his circumstances but with his strong faith he persevered.
He believed in himself that he had a purpose in life, that God had a destiny for him and it came true. Pacquiao is living the dream, he is rich and famous all over the world but he never forgets where he came from, and is so thankful for the blessings that he has received. With his fame and fortune he wants to help his fellow countrymen by giving them hope that they too one day can make something of themselves.
Pacquiao’s inspiration doesn’t only touch the lives of Filipinos but many of those who are in down and out situations, people from all over the world look to his story for inspiration. At the hospital my cousin works at a beautiful young American nurse told me that she is a big fan of Manny Pacquiao, she said that when she saw him on HBO 24/7 she was intrigued by his story, so, she decided to look him up online and the more she learned about Manny the more she said he inspired her to never give up in life and made her fall in love with boxing as well. She like everyone else wants to see Manny Pacquiao fight Floyd Mayweather Jr.
No matter how much success, fame, and riches Manny receives he remains humble and treats everyone from the poor to the rich equal. That is something rare in this day and age because many famous celebrities lose their religion or spirituality and start believing they are God’s themselves. The adoration of fans, the money and fame doesn’t go to his head, this shows how strong Manny is mentally compared to the other celebrities who fall victim to the trappings of fame and fortune. He uses his wealth not for selfish gifts but for positive selfless things that will help the poor people around him like building schools, donating school supplies and investing in businesses to supply more jobs.
Manny Pacquiao you are an inspiration, one of the greatest boxers alive, but most importantly a humble man of faith who never forgot where he came from. A true living legend.
God Bless and Mabuhay Ang Pilipinas!
