The 7 foot 6 former NBA center from Sudan passed away Saturday morning June 19, 2010 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, he was only 47.
Manute Bol was hospitalized in May with acute kidney failure and had a painful skin condition called Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (according to Mayo Clinic SJS is a rare, serious disorder in which your skin and mucous membranes react severely to a medication or infection he died from complications from the illnesses).
He was one of the tallest basketball players to ever play in the NBA, and was known for his humanitarian work in his native country of Sudan. Bol played in the NBA from 1985-1994 with the Washington Bullets, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat.
