The World Cup is the most popular and watched sporting event in the world. The 2010 Soccer/Football/Futbol FIFA World Cup kicks off on June 11, 2010 in South Africa. The FIFA World Cup tournament consists of 32 teams from all around the world competing for the World Cup Trophy at venues within the current host nation (2010 South Africa) over a period of about a month.
There are two stages in the World Cup Finals: the group stage and the knockout stage. In the group stage, teams are put into groups of 4 and will face each other at least 3 times and given points, the top two teams from each group advance to the knockout stage and in the knockout stage, teams will play single elimination games, and the final two teams will play for the World Cup title.

Colombian singer Shakira and Freshlyground will perform “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” at the pre-tournament Kick-Off concert in Soweto. “Waka Waka” will also be sung at the opening ceremony and at the final on July 11, 2010.
