Google recently changed how their homepage looks, a change that is rubbing many people the wrong way. Google decided to add a bit more flare to their homepage by autoloading images in the page background. Users are finding the new images a distraction, when all they want to do is search for the latest Lindsay Lohan news or find the best deal on the new iPhone 4g. A concern from many users is that the images will make the homepage load slower, the page loads just as fast as before, but the way the image is displayed ( a slow dissolve) creates a perceived delay in page loading.
Many users have another idea, the new page homepage looks a little bit like Bing’s homepage., even going as far as saying that Google is copying Bing. Could Google be feeling competitive pressure from Microsoft’s rival search engine?
Regardless of the reasoning behind Google’s latest changes, now there is an easy way to make the new Google homepage look like the original old one. Just download the image below and set it as your homepage image. Its not exactly the same, but if you miss the old Google homepage, it’s way less annoying.
