San Francisco, CA – At the Apple World Wide Developers Conference, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced that Apple will release a fourth generation version of the iPhone on June 24, 2010.
The iPhone 4 will be available in black or white colors, the retail price will be at $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for 32GB, prices are with a 2 year contract. They go on sale June 24, 2010, and AT&T pre-orders start in a week, with it being available in 5 countries at launch (US, France, Germany, UK, Japan), with 18 more following in July 2010. The biggest claim on the new iPhone, is the amazing pixel density of the screen, Apple claims that the human eye will not be able to distinguish any pixels on the screen. Also, Apple claims 1500 new features will be added to the latest version of the iPhone.
If current iPhone owners renew their AT&T contracts before the end of 2010 they will be able to get the new Apple iPhone 4 phones for the same prices as new customers.
The biggest competitor to the iPhone is Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G, but Sprint’s flagship phone does not have the brand recognition that Apple has.
