Good Morning America aired a story on the last known photograph picture of former president John F. Kennedy and sultry film actress Marilyn Monroe together. For many years it was rumored that John F. Kennedy and actress Marilyn Monroe had an affair and photos of the two together were never allowed to reach the public because it would feed into the rumors.
The rare photo from 1962 was taken just hours after Marilyn Monroe’s famous “Happy Birthday” song rendition to JFK at the Madison Square Garden in New York.
The photographed picture shows, Marilyn Monroe, Robert Kennedy, John F. Kennedy, and singer Harry Belafonte in the background.
The picture was shot by the official White House photographer, Cecil Stoughton, at the Manhattan home of Arthur and Matilda Krim on May 19, 1962.
A filmmaker named Keya Morgan purchased the photo from Stoughton who was able to keep the photo negative secret for many years. The secret service tried to confiscate any photos of president Kennedy and Monroe together, if the photo was released to the public it would have been a big controversy and scandal at the time.
Keya Morgan said Stoughton kept the photo private for many years out of respect for Jackie Kennedy.
“He was very close with Jackie and he said he did not want to do anything to really hurt her and upset her,” Morgan said.
