The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off a suspenseful 103-101 Game 5 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday, thanks to the last second buzzer beater shot by Lakers forward Ron Artest who rebounded a missed shot by Lakers star Kobe Bryant.
Point Guard Steve Nash wasn’t impressed with the Lakers close victory, and had this to say.
“They held home court,” Nash said after Game 5’s close loss Thursday. “We’ll go back and do the same, and we’ll come back here (L.A Staples Center) for Game 7.”
The hero of Game 5, the Lakers forward Ron Artest, who sunk the final basket ending the tie breaker, felt Nash’s prediction on a Game 6 victory was disrespectful.
“That’s like no respect for us. There’s no respect. That’s how it’s been for a long time this season. I’m sure we’ll talk about it,” Artest said before the Lakers left Los Angeles on Friday. “Coaches have no respect for the Lakers at all. They have no respect for me. The players don’t respect — a lot of the guys don’t respect. … I’m sure Kobe heard that (what Nash said), and I’m sure he’ll do his part tomorrow.”
The Lakers are looking to take the series tonight and moving onto the 2010 NBA Finals to face the Boston Celtics, the Suns need this win badly or else they are eliminated and are looking to take advantage of the home court advantage.
The winner of the western conference finals will go on to face the eastern conference finals champions the Boston Celtics in the 2010 NBA Finals, will it be the Lakers or the Suns?
Watch Game 6 of the NBA western conference finals Los Angeles Lakers take vs. Phoenix Suns Saturday, May 29, 2010 5:30 p.m. PT at US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
