Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38 KOs) defended his WBC Heavyweight championship belt with a 10th-round knockout of Polish challenger Albert Sosnowski (45-3-1) on Saturday, May 29 at Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
The fight was pretty lackluster and it became evident that Sosnowski had no answer or shot at winning against Vitali. The fight ending in the 10th round when Vitali landed and overhand right on Albert causing him to stop in his tracks and stumble back to the corner, Vitali then went for the finish and dropped Sosnowski forcing referee Jay Nady to step in and stop the fight.
The Veltins Arena was packed with 60,000 in attendance and the audience was in favor of Vitali.
Vitali and his younger brother Wladimir Klitschko rule the heavyweight division, but WBA champion David Haye stands in their way of collecting all the belts. The negotiations for Wladimir versus Haye have been almost as difficult as Pacquiao – Mayweather. If the Wladimir Klitschko versus David Haye fight gets made it will be one of the more anticipated fights to be made in boxing and great for the lackluster heavyweight division.
