Igor Vovkovinskiy, a 27-year-old man from Rochester, Minnesota traveled to New York and stood in front of national television on Monday when he appeared on The Dr. Oz Show to claim the honor of being America’s tallest living person.
He stands an incredible 7 feet, 8.33 inches tall. This was verified by officials from Guinness World Records during Monday’s national telecast of NBC’s The Dr. Oz Show.
Igor is originally from Ukraine but came to Minnesota when he was 7-years old with his mother, Svetlana, to seek treatment at the Mayo Clinic for a pituitary gland disorder that caused his rapid growth at a young age, Igor also suffers from diabetes.
“It feels good to finally have proof that I am the Tallest Man in America. Everyone is always asking me if I’m certain that I’m the tallest and I was never able to prove it. Now that I have this certificate to hang on my wall, I could finally show it.” Igor Vovkovinskiy said of the acknowledgment.
However, Igor is not the tallest man in the world, that goes to Turkey’s Sultan Kosen, who measures in at 8 feet, 1 inch tall according to Guinness .

Vovkovinskiy currently attends the Minnesota School of Business and is working on a degree in paralegal studies.
